Sometimes it feels like it's too much for me to handle. It feels like it should be too much for anyone to handle because every day the news gets worse and worse. Things that have happened today are much worse than whatever happened yesterday. Yesterday there was a kidnapping, today there is a murder. What will it be tomorrow? Not knowing what's going to happen is bad enough but knowing that innocent people are being hurt for the slightest of reasons is almost too much to bear and what makes it even worse is the fact that it seems like there's no end to any of it. The awfulness of people and what they do to one another is constantly on display and it seems people are all too happy to commit these atrocities for reasons that are insignificant or arbitrary. That people could be so callous and cold...it's a disturbing thought. Is everyone really like that? Are all people capable of such awful things?
Authorities in Texas have arrested more than a dozen suspects in the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl. There is outrage and there is anger but much of it is being directed at the victim. Something similar has also happened in Michigan, where another 11-year-old was gang raped. Brazilian authorities report that a bridegroom killed his new wife, his best man and then himself after telling guests he had a “surprise” for them. The 29-year-old groom, Rogerio, gave no indication that anything was wrong at his wedding reception. The sales manager retrieved a gun he had hidden in his father’s pick-up truck and murdered his 25-year-old bride, Renata. He also killed his best man at the wedding reception on Saturday before turning the gun on himself. The brother of the bride was also injured but he was treated at the hospital and released
Chalise and her husband Lance had just walked out of the convenience store with drinks as her husband's suspected killer walked inside. As he walked toward the exit he pulled a handgun and waved it at Lance, police said. The unfairness of it all is what really gets to me. Many people have reasons and justifications for the things they do but they are oftentimes its for the most foolish reasons imaginable and the most unjustifiable reasons possible. Those who have these things committed against them don't deserve such abuse and they don't deserve the suffering that is forced upon them. What gets me though is that people can do such things and be unaware or unconcerned with the destruction they are causing, which is bad enough. What's worse though is that I doubt they have any idea of the injustice they are committing. They do things to people who are undeserving of any of it in any manner but these realizations do not occur to them and even if they do they are unconcerned with them. That people could be unmoved by committing acts against those who have done nothing is something that truly must be part of humanity's darkest state.
