the season, but the reason super-villains set up their hideouts in places like this is because they’re creepy. Everything from the empty rides to the life-sized puppet that is for some reason still in full operation makes you feel weird about just being there.
But walking through a deserted amusement park was just part of the fun because little beach-towns like this have their own original vibe and atmosphere. The people here are pretty relaxed and laid back which gives the whole area an easy-going feel that you can fall right into. It makes you want to just kick back and take it all in because places like this are all unique in their own specific way…abandoned amusement parks notwithstanding.
It was the little things too since even the coffee shops were like their own world and the city was full of shops that all seemed to be local businesses. Anytime you see that the bead store is right across from the book store you know you’re experiencing something rare.
Being somewhere I had never been also encouraged me to make friends and meet people, which is how I met Chase. He said he came down here on a fairly regular basis because he liked the scene. He had a regular 9-5 job doing something boring…I wasn't really listening when he told me. But it was when he could get away and just come down here to relax and party that he really lived for.
I told him what I was doing with myself and he said he was jealous. And since his job was so boring I pushed it out of my mind as quickly as he said it, I wasn’t surprised. Although he also told me if he were me he would be seeing as many sights along the coast as he could and that gave me pause. Maybe I should do that as well. But going to more beaches
or coves seemed redundant at this point.
We ended up hanging out with a group of college girls for a little bit because Chase said he always got lucky with college girls. I quickly saw why since they said they were here to dance and I could see they were just happy to be in a bar. Chase certainly knew what he was doing. I probably would have commented on it but before I knew it Chase was gone. It wasn’t a big deal though because I was several drinks in at this point and wanted to see why a few of my friends hadn’t been in touch with me. I figured they had either forgotten or weren’t concerned about me which meant they were going to get a dose of my enraged wrath. And that’s always a sight to behold…or be heard, as it would whenever they got my messages.
I had a good time though and it wasn’t even about the drinking. The thing I really like about bars is that they allow you to socialize in a way that you can’t anywhere else. Well, I like the drinking too, but the social aspect of it is what keeps me going. And it helps when you’re doing it in a little beach town where everybody is cool.
But beach towns like this one provided a stark contrast to places that are basically a big suburb where everybody wants to be in bed by 10 and don’t want to bother with anything else. There were still plenty
